Churh of Trois-Pistoles

Trois-Pistoles ( Bas-Saint-Laurent )

The church’s interior general appearance underwent a few changes in 1904 and in 1954. The Trois-Pistoles firm of Jean Belzile & Fils carried out the exterior repair works in 1953 and the interior repairs in 1954. The artwork done in 1954 included color determination, marbling, stain glass windows, and restoration of painting of the Stations of the Cross carried out by the firm “Arts Appliqués de Québec” under the direction of Italian artist-painter Mario Mauro.

The fact that three architects worked on the church’s construction and decoration makes analysis difficult. The church is within the scope of the standard Neo-gothic style that was fashionable in those days. Its dimensions are colossal, with overlapping Corinthian, Byzantine and Neo-gothic styles.
