This windmill was built between 1719-1721, is one of the oldest of Quebec. It was built by the Sulpicians, commonly known as the lords of the Island of Montreal, who erected by master builder Deguire to replace the first mill that had fallen prey to the rising flood waters. The goal was not only the mill to grind the grain brought by the settlers, but also to serve as a fortress in case of attack. The windmill is a great asset of Old Pointe-aux-Trembles. This object was the status of archaeological-ranked since 1983 by the Ministry of Culture and Communications of Quebec.

The City of Montreal began a process of development of the Old Mill Park, completed in 2008 The exercise included the restoration of the heritage building, site development as a public space and the establishment of cultural content for interpretive activities and entertainment for the benefit of the population. This important operation to rehabilitate a historical control of land use allowed to park in Old Mill one of the main attractions for visitors and residents.

Thus, the imposing presence of the restored mill marks the entrance to the Old Pointe-aux-Trembles, everything possible to make your experience simply unforgettable.
